The ELTE Department of Buddhology and Tibetology is organizing a workshop for students led by Sebastian Nehrdich (Tohoku University).
Dharmamitra is one of the most advanced open-source digital humanities tools, integrating artificial intelligence to support philological and translation workflows related to Buddhist texts. With its custom-developed model, unique database, contributions from experts across various fields, and continuous development, it provides high-quality data for scholarly research while constantly expanding its range of features.
Sebastian Nehrdich, Assistant Professor at the Center for Integrated Japanese Studies at Tohoku University and co-founder, director, and lead researcher of the MITRA project, founded at the Berkeley AI Research Lab, will give a lecture and workshop at ELTE for the second time at the invitation of the ELTE Department of Buddhology and Tibetology.
In the first part of the workshop, he will introduce the latest features and developments of Dharmamitra. This will be followed by a joint discussion of case studies submitted by participants. The practical session will provide an opportunity to discuss specific research problems in greater depth and explore ways of optimizing related workflows.
Programme:
16:00–16:45 Part I – Lecture: Latest Features and Updates of Dharmamitra
17:00–17:45 Part II – Workshop: Case Studies and Review of Participants’ Materials
Submitting case studies
Participants are welcome to attend the workshop without submitting a case study in advance. However, those who have encountered a specific problem or question related to the use of Dharmamitra in their work or research are encouraged to briefly describe it and submit it beforehand. This will allow the issues raised to be discussed in greater detail during the workshop.
